Prototype wheels could take the flats out of mountain biking – and driving.

How cool is this! No more worries about tubes, no more worries about what level your Stan’s goop is at!

The new mountain bike version of the wheels incorporate lightweight 29-inch carbon fibre rims, and (like some of the automotive prototypes) are open on the sides.  Britek founder Brian Russell is wisely considering adding sidewalls, to keep mud and trail debris from accumulating within the tire.

Although there is no air pressure that riders can adjust, they can instead adjust the rubber-tensioning rods to make the wheels run harder or softer.
